Charity Fiesta 2001 promises
food, fun and yes, volunteerism. This annual event is an opportunity
to chew for charity and shop for a cause: for 3 days, the usual
lunchtime hubbub will be heightened by lunchtime concerts and lucky
dips. So get the hotdogs, paper tulips and board shorts: your
spending offers you a chance at a free trip to Tioman, and offers
someone else a chance at life.

Yes, it is another bazaar in the
Forum that wants what’s in your wallet, except this time the ‘we’
behind it amounts to 25 welfare organizations. They include charming
children, ailing patients, kindly elderly and cuddly animals—can you
really say no? CF is an
annual NUSSU Volunteer Action Committee event, where a carnival of
stalls, exhibitions and performances pack the forum to help welfare
agencies across Singapore.

This year is especially
significant because the event commemorates the International Year of
Volunteerism. The carnival promises a variety of colourful lunchtime
performances of song and dance every day from performers from places
like Mu Chuan, and guest appearances from celebrities such as Miss
Singapore World 2000. CF
will also tempt your taste buds, as it offers a veritable food fest
and spending spree for those fascinated with good bargains and new
stalls. At CF 2001,
you can’t help
yourself without coincidentally helping someone else.

So for those who want to shake the
hands that feed them, you have an opportunity to take your baby
steps and quantum leaps into volunteerism, through the exhibitions
and beneficiary-manned stalls. Let’s live the vision - Live it.
Watch it. Eat it. Buy it. - from the 27th-28th of August, at the Forum, in the crowd, and through our
senses.
