NVAC wins prestigious Singapore Youth Awards

Founded in 1990 to promote volunteerism as a way of life for NUS undergraduates, the NUSSU Volunteer Action Committee has distinguished itself through its notable and relentless efforts in many charity projects serving the disadvantaged, the infirm and the disabled. MERVYN K C SEK reports ...

The pride of the NUS volunteering community has been identified as a national role model for Singapore youth. The NUSSU Volunteer Action Committee (NVAC) is among four individuals and two teams to receive the Singapore Youth Awards, the country’s highest recognition for achievements before the age of 35.

For its excellence in and commitment to community service and volunteerism, NVAC has been conferred the team award for community and youth services. Deputy Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong presented the awards at the Istana on 7 July 2002.

The organiser National Youth Council hopes that the winners of the Singapore Youth Awards will serve as role models for younger Singaporeans.
